Vanessa Cosco
Vanessa joined Chivers Carpenter as a research and writing lawyer in December, 2005. Since then she has written papers, legal opinions, briefs and factums on a variety of issues relating to labour, employment, human rights and privacy law. Her written advocacy has been submitted to Arbitration Boards, the Labour Relations Board, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the Alberta Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
During law school Vanessa received the Justice Arnold F. Moir Scholarship and the National Trust Award. As a law student she was a research assistant for the University of Alberta’s Health Law Institute where she assisted in the research and writing of several papers, primarily related to health information legislation. After graduation, Vanessa articled at the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. She then became a legal counsel to the Alberta Court of Appeal where she did research and writing for the Court for three years.
